Advocacy Hub
This page helps you write a clear message when something is not working and you need help. You do not need to be “good with words” to use this.
Nothing is sent automatically. You stay in control.
Choose the easiest option
Pick the option that feels simplest. No tech skills required.
These options are for everyone in Canada. You don’t need perfect words, legal language, or a computer.
Stuck? It’s okay to ask someone to click the buttons for you. You do the talking.
How to use this page
- Pick the section that matches your situation.
- Fill in the brackets with your details.
- Copy the message.
- Send it to the right person or office.
If you are overwhelmed, start with “Find your MP” and then use the Template Generator.
You have the right to do this (click to open)
In Canada, you have the legal right to contact your government and ask for help.
- Section 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (freedom of expression)
- Section 3 of the Charter (participation in democratic life)
- The long-standing right to petition Parliament (any resident can write to representatives)
That means you are allowed to email. You are allowed to complain. You are allowed to ask for answers. You are allowed to ask for change.
You do not need permission. You do not need to be an expert. You do not need to be polite about harm.
When you write to your government, it becomes part of the public record. That record is how systems are forced to listen.
Not sure what you’re allowed to do?
