Home Internet Helper
An interactive assistant to help you navigate your home technology.
Technology can feel confusing because nobody teaches how the pieces work together. This guide explains things in plain language, one step at a time.
Your internet connection has two parts:
- Internet service coming into your home from your provider.
- Wi-Fi spreading that connection through your home.
You can have:
- Good internet but weak Wi-Fi
- Strong Wi-Fi but no internet
- Or both working perfectly
The lights on your equipment help tell us which problem we are dealing with.
Different internet setups use different wires. Pick the one that looks the closest to yours.
Don’t worry about technical names. Just match what you see.
Solid lights usually mean connected. Flashing lights usually mean the box is trying to connect.
Sometimes the problem is something simple. Let’s check the easy things first.
The lights can help us figure out whether the issue is:
- Inside your home
- With the equipment
- Or outside with the provider
Wi-Fi works best when the box is out in the open, not hidden away.
Your Wi-Fi name and password are often printed on a sticker on the internet box.
